Middle America FTW
Watching house-buying shows like My First Place and House Hunters on HGTV makes me sad. In this one episode that I just watched, a first-time homeowner couple bought a beautiful, spacious, 1,500 square foot, 3 bedroom, 2 bath detached, single family home with a POOL for $230,000. Their mortgage payment is $1,400 a month. That’s only slightly higher than our rent on a 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath, 1000 square foot apartment in Vienna, VA.
